Caring & Cleaning
Our jewellery is crafted out of quality Sterling Silver, 14k Gold filled, Rose Gold, or 9/14k Gold wire. If you have purchased a Safari Bracelet or Safari Earrings, we advise you to clean them occasionally to avoid build-up of dirt between the strands or in the knots.
To clean your safari bracelet or earrings, gently brush the knots & strands with a soft bristled brush & warm soapy water, or any jewellery cleaner of your choice. Dry & polish with a soft fibre free cloth. Knock gently on a soft surface to remove any water trapped in the knots.
Alternatively, we offer a complimentary life time re-polish and cleaning service.
*Excludes any shipping fees.
The Materials
14/20 Gold-filled wire is a tube of 14k Gold that is bonded by heat and pressure onto a core of jeweller’s brass.
The 14 denotes the karat of the Gold used and the 20 denotes the percentage of 14k Gold by weight in the piece of wire.
(I.e. 1/20th or 5 % of the wire is 14k gold.)
Once bonded, the result is a tube of very strong and durable wire which is resistant to tarnishing because of its thick gold bond covering. Do not mistake gold-filled wire as being the same or similar to gold plate. Gold-filled wire is considered a precious alternative to the very expensive solid gold. 14k Gold-filled jewellery is 100 times thicker than gold plated jewellery.
Jewellery pieces made of gold-filled wire have been around since the early 1900's and retain their beauty and truly have withstood the test of time. Be confident, when you purchase an item made with gold-filled wire, that you are investing in a high-quality piece of jewellery that will last a lifetime with the proper care.
